Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how HuntPrice compares grocery prices across Canada.

Are the prices exact?

Prices are estimations based on data scraped weekly from each retailer's website. Final prices at the store may vary slightly due to regional differences, daily changes, or weighed items like meat and produce. We recommend checking the store's current flyer or app for the most up-to-date price before shopping.

Which Canadian grocery stores does HuntPrice cover?

HuntPrice covers major grocery chains across Canadian markets: Walmart, Loblaws, Metro, Food Basics, FreshCo, Costco, Sobeys, Super C, Save-On-Foods, Calgary Co-op, and Voila (online delivery).

How often are prices updated?

Prices are scraped and updated every week, typically on Mondays. The date of the last update is shown on the Weekly Rankings page.

How are delivery fees calculated?

We use the standard baseline delivery fee for each retailer. This does not account for specific postal code premiums, peak hour surcharges, or minimum order thresholds. Switch to Get It Delivered mode on the comparison tool to include delivery fees in totals.

How does HuntPrice compare grocery prices?

You search for items (e.g. eggs, 2% milk, chicken breast) and add them to your basket. HuntPrice uses AI-assisted matching to find the equivalent product at each grocery store in your city and sums up the total cost. Stores are ranked from cheapest to most expensive based on your full basket.

Which Canadian cities are supported by HuntPrice?

HuntPrice supports 14 major Canadian metropolitan areas: Ottawa, ON; Toronto, ON; Vancouver, BC; Montreal, QC; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Winnipeg, MB; Quebec City, QC; Halifax, NS; Saskatoon, SK; Gatineau, QC; Moncton, NB; St. John's, NL; and Charlottetown, PE. The app auto-detects your nearest city via IP, and you can switch anytime using the city selector.

Do I need an account to use HuntPrice?

No account is required. You can compare grocery prices instantly without signing up. Your shopping list is saved automatically in your browser so it reloads on your next visit.

Where does HuntPrice get its grocery price data?

Prices are collected from each retailer's public website on a weekly basis. HuntPrice uses AI-based product matching to align equivalent items across stores (for example, matching "2% milk 4L" at Walmart with the equivalent at Loblaws and Metro).
